Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear brake backing plate (2) and the rear brake backing plate spacer (3) to the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly.

  2. Install the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly (1) with rear brake backing plate and spacer to the rear axle. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  3. Install the wheel cylinder. Refer to Rear Brake Cylinder Replacement .
  4. Install the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  5. Install the park brake cable retaining clip (1) to the drum brake backing plate.

  6. Install the rear wheel speed sensor, if equipped. Refer to
  7. Adjust the drum brakes. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
  8. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  9. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
  10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  11. Lower the vehicle.
