Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the brake drums. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
- Remove the rear wheel speed sensors. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
- Disconnect the rear brake hoses from the rear brake pipes at the rear axle mounted bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Hose Replacement .
- Remove the parking brake cable brackets from the rear axle. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Replacement .
- Remove the rear wheel hub and bearing assemblies. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
- Remove the rear brake backing plate spacers. Refer to Rear Brake Backing Plate Replacement .
- Secure the rear brake assemblies to the body structure with wire.
- Support the rear axle with the rear axle supporter and hydraulic jack.
- Remove the rear shock absorber strut lower bolts and disconnect the rear shock absorber strut from the rear axle. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
- Lower the hydraulic jack.
- Remove the rear shock absorber coil springs. Refer to Rear Coil Spring Replacement .
- Remove the rear coil spring lower insulators. Refer to Rear Coil Spring Lower Insulator Replacement .
- Support the rear axle with the rear axle supporter and hydraulic jack.
- Remove the rear axle bolts (1).
- Slowly lower the hydraulic jack stand to remove the rear axle from the vehicle.
- Remove the rear axle from the hydraulic jack stand with the rear axle supporter.
