Installation Procedure

  1. Place the rear axle on the hydraulic jack stand with the rear axle supporter.
  2. Using the hydraulic jack stand, raise the rear axle to the correct position.

  3. Hand tighten all rear suspension trailing arm bolts (1).
  4. Using the rear axle supporter and the hydraulic jack stand, raise the rear axle to the right suspension height specification (D). Refer to Trim Height Specifications .

    NOTE: The rear axle to body retaining bolts must be tightened with the axle at the correct suspension height.
  5. Completely tighten the rear suspension trailing arm bolts to 165 N.m (122 lb ft).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  6. Lower the hydraulic jack stand.
  7. Install the rear coil spring lower insulators. Refer to Rear Coil Spring Lower Insulator Replacement .
  8. Install the rear shock absorber coil spring. Refer to Rear Coil Spring Replacement .
  9. Connect the rear shock absorber strut to the rear axle and install the rear shock absorber strut lower bolts. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  10. Remove the hydraulic jack with the rear axle supporter from the rear axle.
  11. Install the rear brake backing plate spacers. Refer to Rear Brake Backing Plate Replacement .
  12. Install the rear wheel hub and bearing assemblies. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  13. Install the parking brake cable brackets to the rear axle. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Replacement .
  14. Connect the rear brake hoses to the rear brake pipes at the rear axle mounted bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Hose Replacement .
  15. Install the rear wheel speed sensors. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
  16. Install the brake drums. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  17. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  18. Lower the vehicle.
