Installation Procedure

  1. Position the boot (1) on the wheel drive shaft (2).

  2. Using the appropriate tool, install the NEW retaining clip.

  3. Ensure that the boot (1) is properly seated in the grooved (2) wheel drive shaft (3).

  4. Place approximately half the lubricant from the service kit inside the outboard boot and pack the CV joint with the remaining lubricant.

  5. Using a block of wood and a hammer, install the CV joint (1) on the wheel drive shaft.

  6. Install the inner boot clamp (2) and the outer boot clamp (1).

  7. Using the CH-804  boot clamp plier (1), crimp the inboard boot clamp and outboard boot clamp until the gap measures 2.00 mm (0.079 in).

  8. Rotate the housing in a circular motion to distribute the grease in the tripot joint.
  9. Install the wheel drive shaft to the vehicle. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
