Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the spark plug. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement (LV7) .
  2. Remove the camshaft position actuator. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Replacement .
  3. Remove the hydraulic valve lash adjuster arm. Refer to Hydraulic Valve Lash Adjuster Arm Replacement (LV7) .
  4. Install the 2 EN-50717-1  stands (1, 4) to the cylinder head and fix them with the screws (5, 6).

  5. Install the 2 EN-50717-3  rods (2) to the EN-50717-1  stands (1, 4).
  6. Install the EN-50717-2  compressor (3) to the EN-50717-3  rods (2).
  7. Plug the injector bores, using the EN-51511  plug.
  8. Install a suitable air pressure adapter to the spark plug hole.
  9. Apply air pressure to the corresponding cylinder.
  10. Position the EN-50717-2  compressor (3) so that its adapter proper contacts the valve spring retainer and pretension the compressor.
  11. Apply pressure to the EN-50717-2  compressor to push down the vale spring retainer (1) and compress the valve spring (3) until the valve keys (2) are free from tension. Carefully remove the valve keys then.

    WARNING: Valve springs can be tightly compressed. Use care when removing the retainers and plugs. Personal injury could result.
  12. Release the tension from the EN-50717-2  compressor.
  13. Remove the valve spring retainer (2) and the exhaust valve spring (1) or intake valve spring (3).

  14. Remove and DISCARD the valve stem oil seal (2). Use the EN-46116  remover (1).
