Installation Procedure

- Install the engine oil level indicator control module wiring harness to the upper oil pan and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . - Apply a 3 mm bead of sealer around the perimeter of the oil pan. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers (Europe LV7)Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers (North America LV7)
.NOTE:
- The lower crankcase and oil pan mating surfaces must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
- Install and align the oil pan to block within 20 minutes of applying the sealer.
- The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 60 minutes of applying the sealer.
- Additional sealant is necessary to reduce the possibility of leakage where the cylinder head to engine block interface along the bead path flange on the front cover.
- Install the oil pan on the lower crankcase, ensure the oil pan locating pins align with the lower crankcase.
- Coat the oil pan bolts (1) (2) and (3) with sealant prior to installation. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers (Europe LV7)Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers (North America LV7)
NOTE: Hand start the oil pan bolts. Torque to specification when all oil pan bolts are installed hand-tight.
- Install the 11 upper oil pan bolts (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the 2 upper oil pan bolts (1) and tighten the bolts in sequence.
- Tighten the bolts a first pass to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
- Tighten the bolts a final pass to final torque specification to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the engine oil filter and tighten to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).
- Install the transmission side cover (2), transmission side cover and engine starter bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
- Connect the oil level sensor connector (1) and oil pump connector (2).
- Install the lower oil pan. Refer to Lower Oil Pan Replacement (LV7) .
- Install the exhaust muffler. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LV7) .
