Removal Procedure

- Remove the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .
- Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (L5Q) .
- Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (L5Q) .
- Remove the air conditioning evaporate hose assembly bracket nut (1) and set aside the air conditioning evaporate hose assembly bracket (2).
- Remove the engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .
- Carefully tap the coiled spring pins (1) out of the engine front cover and the engine block so that they fall out with a suitable tool.
- Remove the engine front cover bolts (2, 4, 5) and stud (3).
- Locate pry-points on the engine front cover to loosen the cover from the engine block.
- Remove the engine front cover (6).
- Remove the engine front cover hole plug (1).
- Install the EN-51096 remover, remove the crankshaft front oil seal (1) from the engine front cover (2) and discard the seal.
- Cleaning all sealing surfaces from the engine front cover and the upper oil pan.
