Installation Procedure

- Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator (1).
- Readjust the camshaft until the dowel pin (2) engage to camshaft (3).
- Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt (4) and tighten to:CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .NOTE: Counterhold the camshaft with a suitable tool.NOTE: Refer to Special Tools .
- First pass to 20 N.m (15 lb ft)
- Final pass to an additional 90 degrees using EN-45059 meter.
- The marks (2) of the camshaft position actuators must be positioned approximately at the 12 O'clock position.
- Remove EN-51691 retainer (1, 2).
- Remove EN-51632 holder (1).
- Remove the pin from the timing chain tensioner (1).
NOTE: The following step shows the tensioner design 1.
- Turn crankshaft 720 degrees in the direction of engine rotation by the crankshaft balancer bolt (2).
- Adjust the engine to cylinder 1 top dead center (TDC) of combustion stroke. Set crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until the markings (1, 2) line up. Rotate at the crankshaft balancer bolt (3).
- Install the EN-51632 holder (1).
- If the EN-51632 holder (1) can be installed, the engine timing is properly adjusted.
- Remove the EN-51632 holder (1).
- Install the seal ring (2).
- Install the engine front cover hole plug (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the front bumper fascia opening lower cover. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Opening Lower Cover Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the timing chain upper guide. Refer to Timing Chain Upper Guide Replacement .
- Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (LV7) .
