Installation Procedure

  1. Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator (1).

  2. Readjust the camshaft until the dowel pin (2) engage to camshaft (3).
  3. Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt (4) and tighten to:
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
    NOTE: Counterhold the camshaft with a suitable tool.
    NOTE: Refer to Special Tools .
    1. First pass to 20 N.m (15 lb ft)
    2. Final pass to an additional 90 degrees using EN-45059  meter.
  4. The marks (2) of the camshaft position actuators must be positioned approximately at the 12 O'clock position.

  5. Remove EN-51691  retainer (1, 2).

  6. Remove EN-51632  holder (1).

  7. Remove the pin from the timing chain tensioner (1).

    NOTE: The following step shows the tensioner design 1.
  8. Turn crankshaft 720 degrees in the direction of engine rotation by the crankshaft balancer bolt (2).

  9. Adjust the engine to cylinder 1 top dead center (TDC) of combustion stroke. Set crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until the markings (1, 2) line up. Rotate at the crankshaft balancer bolt (3).
  10. Install the EN-51632  holder (1).

  11. If the EN-51632  holder (1) can be installed, the engine timing is properly adjusted.
  12. Remove the EN-51632  holder (1).
  13. Install the seal ring (2).

  14. Install the engine front cover hole plug (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  15. Install the front bumper fascia opening lower cover. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Opening Lower Cover Replacement .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Install the timing chain upper guide. Refer to Timing Chain Upper Guide Replacement .
  18. Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (LV7) .
