Installation Procedure

- Locate the camshaft position actuator dowel pin (1).
- The camshaft position actuators must be installed on the marked position (2) of the camshaft timing chain (1).
- Install the EN 51632 camshaft locking tool.
- Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator (2).
- Install the exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt (1) and tighten to:CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .CAUTION: Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .NOTE: Counterhold the camshaft with EN 51632 camshaft locking tool.
- First pass to 20 N.m (15 lb ft)
- Final pass to an additional 90 degrees using the EN-45059 meter
- Install the intake camshaft position actuator (2).
- If not enough slack on camshaft timing chain is present to install the intake camshaft actuator remove the tension of the timing chain tensioner. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Adjustment (L5Q) .
- Install the intake camshaft position actuator bolt (1) and tighten to:CAUTION: Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .
- First pass to 20 N.m (15 lb ft)
- Final pass to an additional 90 degrees using the EN-45059 meter
- Remove the EN 51632 camshaft locking tool.
- Remove the EN 51691 retainer.
- Install the timing chain upper guide. Refer to Timing Chain Upper Guide Replacement .
- Check the position of the crankshaft, camshaft and camshaft position actuator.
- Turn crankshaft 720 degrees in the direction of engine rotation by the crankshaft balancer bolt (3).
- Adjust the engine to cylinder 1 TDC of combustion stroke. Set crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until the markings (1, 2) line up. Rotate at the crankshaft balancer bolt (3).
- Install the EN 51632 camshaft locking tool (1).
- If the EN 51632 camshaft locking tool (1) can be installed, the engine timing is properly adjusted.
- Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (L5Q) .
