Installation Procedure

  1. Install the intermediate steering shaft (2) to the vehicle.

  2. Connect the intermediate steering shaft (2) to the steering column shaft (3).
    NOTE: The recess of the fine tooth in the universal joint have to be precisely aligned to the recess of the fine tooth on the steering column shaft. The bore in the universal joint have to be aligned to the groove on the steering column shaft.
  3. Install the intermediate steering shaft upper bolt (1) and tighten to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  4. Connect the intermediate steering shaft (2) to the steering gear pinion shaft (3).

    NOTE: The recess of the fine tooth in the universal joint have to be precisely aligned to the recess of the fine tooth on the steering gear pinion. The bore in the universal joint have to be aligned to the groove on the steering gear pinion.
  5. Install the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (1) and tighten to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).
