Circuit/System Verification

- Ignition ON. Engine OFF. Transmission in Park.
- Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 scan tool parameter displays HIGH.
- If the parameter does NOT display HIGH
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- If the parameter does display HIGH
- If the parameter does NOT display HIGH
- Using the S3 Transmission Shift Lever, shift the transmission to Low.
- While monitoring the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 parameter, accelerate the vehicle to 60 km/h (37 mph). Maintain that speed for at least 15 s with the Calculated Throttle Position parameter displaying less than 20%.
- Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 parameter continues to display High.
- If the parameter does NOT display High

- If the parameter does display High
- If the parameter does NOT display High
- Stop the vehicle.
- Using the S3 Transmission Shift Lever, shift the transmission to Drive.
- While monitoring the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 parameter, accelerate the vehicle to 60 km/h (37 mph). Maintain that speed for at least 15 s with the Calculated Throttle Position parameter displaying less than 20%.
- Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 scan tool parameter displays LOW.
- If the parameter does NOT display LOW

- If the parameter does display LOW
- If the parameter does NOT display LOW
- Verify DTC P0871 is only set as a history DTC.
- If the DTC is set as current

- If the DTC is only set as history
Refer to:Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections
- If the DTC is set as current
- Clear DTC P0871 from history.
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data. The DTC should not set.
- If the DTC sets

- If the DTC does not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
