Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF. Transmission in Park.
  2. Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 scan tool parameter displays HIGH.
    • If the parameter does NOT display HIGH 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

    • If the parameter does display HIGH 
  3. Using the S3 Transmission Shift Lever, shift the transmission to Low.
  4. While monitoring the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 parameter, accelerate the vehicle to 60 km/h (37 mph). Maintain that speed for at least 15 s with the Calculated Throttle Position parameter displaying less than 20%.
  5. Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 parameter continues to display High.
    • If the parameter does NOT display High 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

    • If the parameter does display High 
  6. Stop the vehicle.
  7. Using the S3 Transmission Shift Lever, shift the transmission to Drive.
  8. While monitoring the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 parameter, accelerate the vehicle to 60 km/h (37 mph). Maintain that speed for at least 15 s with the Calculated Throttle Position parameter displaying less than 20%.
  9. Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 scan tool parameter displays LOW.
    • If the parameter does NOT display LOW 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

    • If the parameter does display LOW 
  10. Verify DTC P0871 is only set as a history DTC.
    • If the DTC is set as current 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

  11. Clear DTC P0871 from history.
  12. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data. The DTC should not set.
    • If the DTC sets 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

    • If the DTC does not set 
  13. All OK.
