Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly connector and the K71 Transmission Control Module X2 connector.
- Test for infinite resistance between the Transmission Manual/Automatic Date Output circuit terminal 21 and chassis ground.NOTE:
- When test probing harness terminals, it is imperative to use the proper test probe from the most current version of the J 35616 GM-Approved Terminal Test Kit. Use of an improper test probe may deform the terminal, resulting in intermittent open conditions.
- Testing for steps 2 - 4 is performed on the Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly harness connector using the GY probe J 35616-2A .
- Chassis ground to Battery ground 25 - 35 Ω.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
- If infinite resistance.
- Test for infinite resistance between the Transmission Manual/Automatic Data Output circuit terminal 21 and all other terminals of the Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly connector.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the shorted together condition in the affected circuits.
- If infinite resistance.
- Test for less than 10 Ω in the Transmission Manual/Automatic Data Output circuit end to end.
- If 10 Ω or greater
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 10 Ω
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Connect all disconnected connectors.
- Ignition ON. Engine OFF. Transmission in Park.
- Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 scan tool parameter displays HIGH.
- If the parameter does NOT display HIGH
Replace the component: Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly
- If the parameter does display HIGH
- If the parameter does NOT display HIGH
- Engine ON
- While monitoring the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 parameter, accelerate the vehicle to 60 km/h (37 mph). Maintain that speed for at least 15 s with the Calculated Throttle Position parameter displaying less than 20%.
- Verify that the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch 3 scan tool parameter displays LOW.
- If the parameter does NOT display LOW
Replace the component: Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly
- If the parameter does display LOW
- If the parameter does NOT display LOW
- Using the S3 Transmission Shift Lever, shift the transmission to Drive.
- Transmission Manual/Automatic Date Output circuit and Logic/ROM Assembly OK.
