Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The B14A Output Shaft Speed Sensor is a three wire hall-effect sensor. The output shaft speed sensor provides output shaft speed information to the transmission control module. The output shaft speed sensor is mounted on the middle right rear of the transmission above the right output shaft facing the final gear reluctor wheel. As the final gear rotates, the toothed rotor wheel passes through the magnetic field of the output shaft speed sensor and produces an AC voltage. The AC voltage level and the number of pulses increase as the speed of the final gear increases. The transmission control module converts the voltage to output shaft speed. The transmission control module uses the output shaft speed to determine vehicle speed. The transmission control module supplies a B+ (+0.0/ - 2.0 V) sensor signal circuit, an Ignition 1 voltage circuit and a low reference circuit to the output Shaft speed sensor.
