K71 Transmission Control Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition Off
NOTE: Circuit/System Testing must be performed before proceeding to K71 Transmission Control Module testing.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: @Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly
  3. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
    NOTE:
    • When test probing harness terminals, it is imperative to use the proper test probe from the most current version of the J-35616  GM-Approved Terminal Test Kit. Use of an improper test probe may deform the terminal, resulting in intermittent open conditions.
    • Testing for steps 3-x is performed on the Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly harness using the GY probe J-35616-2A.
  4. Verify the scan tool parameter: Transmission Fluid Temperature= -40°C (-40°F)
    • If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does not display -40°C (-40°F).

Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module

    • If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does display -40°C (-40°F)
  5. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 12 Low Reference terminal 12
  6. Verify the scan tool parameter: Transmission Fluid Temperature=180°C (356°F)
    • If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does not display 180°C (356°F).

Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module

    • If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does display 180°C (356°F)
  7. All OK.
