Removal Procedure

- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Clean away all dirt and debris from the transmission case plug area.
WARNING: Refer to Checking Hot Transmission Fluid through Drain Plug Hole Warning .
- Remove and discard the transmission case oil level check plug (1) and check the oil level. The fluid level should be up to the bottom edge of the fluid plug hole.NOTE: It is not necessary to check the fluid level unless oil discoloration occurs or leakage is suspected. Make sure to check the fluid level with the engine stopped. Check if the vehicle is level.
- If the level is low, add manual transmission fluid through the oil level check plug hole until the fluid begins to run out.
