Installation Procedure

  1. Position the shift lever and the selector lever cable assembly in the vehicle.
  2. Gently pull the shift lever and the selector lever cable assembly through the cowl into the engine compartment.
  3. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable grommet nut (1) and tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  4. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable (2) to the selector and shift lever cable bracket (4).

  5. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable (1) to the shift control housing (3).
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  7. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable bracket nuts (1) to the underbody and tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Install the shift lever and selector lever cable (2) to the transmission control housing.

  10. Connect the shift lever and selector lever cable (1) to the transmission control lever.
  11. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  12. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (without Engine Block Heater)Battery Tray Replacement (with Engine Block Heater) .
