Circuit/System Verification

- Verify the coolant is at the correct level.
- If the coolant level is incorrect
Refer to: Loss of Coolant
- If the coolant level is correct
- If the coolant level is incorrect
- Verify DTC P00B3, P00B4, P00B7, P0102, P0103, P0111, P0112, P0113, P0114, P0117, P0118, P0119, P0597, P0598, P0599 is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
- If none of the DTCs are set
- Perform the following steps:
- Engine running. - For greater than 15 min
- A/C Compressor = Off
- Increase the engine speed slowly to 3000 RPM.
- Perform the scan tool control function: Engine Coolant Thermostat Heater - 0%
Verify the scan tool parameter: ECT Sensor = Greater than +79°C (+174°F)
- If colder than +79°C (+174°F)
Replace the component: E41 Engine Coolant Thermostat Heater
- If warmer than +79°C (+174°F)
- If colder than +79°C (+174°F)
- Perform the following steps:
- Perform the scan tool control function: Engine Coolant Thermostat Heater - 100%
- Increase the engine speed slowly to 3000 RPM.
- Verify the following parameters are within +20°C (+68°F) of each other:
- ECT Sensor
- Radiator Coolant Temperature Sensor
- If not in the specified range

- If in the specified range
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
- Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets

- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
