Removal Procedure

- Install the MDI, turn on the ignition and read out the trouble codes.NOTE: For a better description the following graphic shows the vehicle without attaching parts.
- Delete them and read out the trouble codes again.
- If there are any trouble codes notice them.
- Open the hood and remove the battery positive and negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .
- Release the instrument panel wiring harness.
Make pictures from the routing and fixing points of the instrument panel wiring harness for the orientation.
- Disconnect all electrical connectors and unscrew the ground cables.
- Release all fixations.
- Take care about destroyed cable straps and harness guidance regarding noises and rattles.
- Remove the old instrument panel wiring harness (1) from the tie bar and lay it on the floor.
Unpack the new instrument panel wiring harness and compare the old with the new harness concerning quantity of fixing points, cable straps, guides, part numbers and pin assignments.
