Preliminary Procedures Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling . Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection . Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
1	Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Retainer Procedure Remove the coolant temperature sensor retainer (1).
2	Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Procedure Remove the coolant temperature sensor (2).

Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
