Removal Procedure

Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (L5Q) .
Remove the clamp (2).

Remove the thermostat bypass pipe bolt (1).
Remove the 2 thermostat bypass pipe bolts (2).

Remove the thermostat bypass pipe (3).
Remove and DISCARD the thermostat bypass pipe gasket (1).
