Lower the folding top as shown
The roof (1) is open and the folding top stowage compartment lid (2) is also opened.
Loosen the left side hinge bolts (2) and anchor plate bolts (1) 2 turns each. Repeat this procedure on the right side hinge bolts and anchor plate bolts.
Raise the folding top to just prior to tension bow lock.
Place 2 7 mm plastic feeler gauges (arrows) between the tension bow (2) and the stowage compartment lid (1) at the rear corners just inboard of roof seam (3). Lower tension bow to locked position. Ensure that the plastic feeler gauges are not deeper than 20 mm to avoid contact or interference with the tension bow seal.
Raise all of the windows and allow hinge to move to a neutral position.
With the doors closed and windows up, using a fine point marking pen, mark the location (1) of each of the hinge attaching bolts (2) on the right and left side with a vertical line at the rear of each bolt and a horizontal line along the bottom of each bolt. These will be the reference marks for alignment of the hinge.
Remove the 7 mm feeler gauges between the tension bow and the stowage compartment lid and lower the convertible top as shown.
With the aid of a helper, move the top hinge bolt (1) forward along the horizontal scribe line to create a 4 mm (a) gap between the bolt and the vertical scribe line or the end of travel, whichever is less. Snug the bolt enough to hold in position while adjusting the lower hinge bolts. Repeat on both sides of the vehicle.
Repeat the above step for the lower two hinge bolts (2 and 3) on both sides. This 4 mm will apply the pre-load necessary for the top.

CAUTION:

Fastener Caution

Recheck all bolts for proper positioning then tighten all hinge bolts to 31N.m (23 lb ft).
One at a time, position each anchor plate (bolts with yellow paint marks) tight against the hinge. Push the upper bolt (1) in an upward direction at the top of the hinge and the lower bolt (2) in an rearward direction at the bottom of the hinge. Tighten anchor plate in this position to 31N.m (23 lb ft).
Operate top up and down and ensure that top operates smoothly with no binding. Check tension bow to stowage compartment lid gap to ensure gap does not exceed 5 mm +/- 3 mm.
