Installation Procedure
- The lower crankcase and oil pan mating surfaces must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
- Install and align the oil pan to block within 20 minutes of applying the sealer.
- The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 20 minutes of applying the sealer.
- Additional sealant is necessary to reduce the possibility of leakage where the cylinder head to engine block interface along the bead path flange on the front cover.
- Clean the sealing surface of the engine block and the engine front cover from old gasket material, oil, dirt and grease.
- In case of reusing the old oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection (L5Q)
Apply a 3 mm bead of sealer (1) around the perimeter of the oil pan. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Europe L5Q)Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (North America L5Q)
Install and align the oil pan (1).
- Install and hand tighten the 2 oil pan bolts (2) to fix the oil pan (1).
Oil Pan Bolt (1) - Hand tighten the bolts. [4x]
- Oil Pan Bolt (2) - Hand tighten the bolts. [9x]

CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
NOTE:Inspect for excessive sealer around the oil filter mounting area. If extra sealer is present remove and clean accordingly.
Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence to 5 N.m (44 lb in) [13x]
- Tighten the bolts in sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in) [13x]
Reposition the transmission side cover (3), transmission side cover and engine starter bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
- Install the 2 transmission bolts (2) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
- Exhaust Muffler Replacement (L5Q) - Install
- Front Compartment Insulator Replacement - Install
- Front Bumper Fascia Opening Lower Cover Replacement - Install
- Fill and check the engine oil level. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
