Installation Procedure

  1. Fig 1: Identifying Intake Manifold Assembly Components

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Install the throttle body assembly (2) to the intake manifold (5) and tighten to 8.5 N.m (75 lb in).

  2. Install the fuel injector fuel rail assembly (4) to the intake manifold (5) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    NOTE:

    Use a NEW gasket. Ensure the mating surfaces are clean and free of debris.

    Install the intake manifold gasket (4).

  4. Install the intake manifold (3) with throttle body assembly (1) and fuel injector fuel rail assembly (2) to the engine.
  5. Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Installation (L5Q) .

    Install the intake manifold (2).

  7. Install the intake manifold bolts (1) and tighten the bolts in two steps to final torque. Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  8. Connect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting from the fuel rail.
  9. Install the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement .
  10. Install the manifold absolute pressure sensor. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement .
  11. Connect the electrical connectors.
  12. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (L5Q) .
  13. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  14. Close the hood.
