Installation Procedure

Coat the intake camshaft with lubricant. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Europe LV7)Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (North America LV7) .
- Install the intake camshaft in the cylinder head.
- Ensure that the camshaft notch at the front of the camshaft is in the 12 O'clock position before installing the camshaft caps.
- Rotate the oil seal in the groove of the number one camshaft journal so the split line is at approximately the 12 O'clock position before installing the camshaft caps.
- Lubricate the 6 camshaft bearing caps (2, 4) and the 12 camshaft bearing cap bolts (1, 3). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Europe LV7)Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (North America LV7) .
- Install the 5 camshaft bearing caps (4).
- Install the camshaft bearing front cap (2).
- Loosely install the 12 camshaft bearing cap bolts (1, 3) by hand.

CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
Tighten the camshaft bearing cap bolts (1, 3) in increments of 3 turns until they are seated.
- Tighten the bearing cap bolts in sequence as shown to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Install the camshaft position actuator. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Replacement (LV7) .
NOTE:
Observe the markings on the bearing caps. Each bearing cap is market in order to identify its location. Ensure the caps are installed in the original location and position.
