Intake Manifold Removal
- Remove the EVAP canister valve (1).
- Remove the throttle body bolts (1).
- Remove the throttle body (2) and seal (3).
- Remove the fuel pump cover bolts and cover.
- Remove the fuel pump insulator (6).
- Remove and discard the fuel feed intermediate pipe (5).
- Remove and discard the fuel pump bolts.
- Remove the fuel pump (4), O-ring (3), and gasket (2). Discard the O-ring and gasket.
- Remove the valve lifter follower (1).
- Remove the MAP sensor (1) and bolt (2).
- Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts (2, 4).
- Remove the intake manifold (3) and gasket (1).
- If the intake manifold needs to be replaced, transfer the throttle body to the new intake manifold.
Never attempt to remove the intake manifold from a hot engine, allow the engine to cool to ambient temperature. The intake manifold can be damaged if it is removed when the engine is hot.
The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise cancelling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.
Fuel that flows out at high pressure can cause serious injury to the skin and eyes. ALWAYS depressurize the fuel system before removing components that are under high fuel pressure.
Alternately loosen the fuel pump bolts one turn at a time until the pump is fully disengaged from fuel pump lifter follower. Trying to remove the pump bolts without even side-to-side loosening may result in pump plunger damage
