Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    NOTE:

    Before installing the timing chain lower guide, check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear.

  1. Check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear:
    • Timing chain guides with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain tensioner and timing chain tensioner shoe with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain and all timing chain sprockets
    • Oil pump sprocket
    • Oil pump drive chain tensioner

  3. Install the timing chain lower guide (1).
  4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Install the 2 timing chain lower guide bolts (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  7. Remove the EN-50513  pin (2).

  9. Remove the EN-51143  fixing tool (1).
  10. Raise the vehicle.

  12. Remove the 2 bolts (3).
  13. Remove the EN-51140  fixing tool (2).

  15. Install the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).

    Rotate the crankshaft 720 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).

  16. Remove the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
  17. Check the camshaft timing. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Inspection .
  18. Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
  19. Install the timing chain lower cover. Refer to Timing Chain Lower Cover Replacement .
