Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear:
- Timing chain guides with plastic attachment
- Timing chain tensioner and timing chain tensioner shoe with plastic attachment
- Timing chain and all timing chain sprockets
- Oil pump sprocket
- Oil pump drive chain tensioner
- Install the timing chain lower guide (1).
- Install the 2 timing chain lower guide bolts (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Remove the EN-50513 pin (2).
- Remove the EN-51143 fixing tool (1).
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the 2 bolts (3).
- Remove the EN-51140 fixing tool (2).
- Install the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
Rotate the crankshaft 720 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Remove the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Check the camshaft timing. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Inspection .
- Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
- Install the timing chain lower cover. Refer to Timing Chain Lower Cover Replacement .
NOTE:
Before installing the timing chain lower guide, check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear.
