Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    NOTE:

    Before installing the timing chain idler sprocket, check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear.

  1. Check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear:
    • Timing chain guides with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain tensioner and timing chain tensioner shoe with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain and all timing chain sprockets
    • Oil pump sprocket
    • Oil pump drive chain tensioner

  2. Install the timing chain idler sprocket (2), by align the marks (1) with the timing chain idler sprocket and the crankshaft sprocket (3).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the 3 timing chain idler sprocket bolts (1) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  4. Remove the EN-51141  fixing tool (2).
  5. Install the camshaft timing chain. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Replacement
