Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    NOTE:

    Before installing the oil pump drive chain, check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear.

  1. Check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear:
    • Timing chain guides with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain tensioner and timing chain tensioner shoe with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain and all timing chain sprockets
    • Oil pump sprocket
    • Oil pump drive chain tensioner

  3. Install the oil pump drive chain (2) to the oil pump drive chain sprocket (1).
  4. Install the oil pump sprocket (3) to the oil pump shaft (5).
  5. Install a NEW oil pump sprocket bolt (4).

  7. Hold the sprocket with the EN-51142  holding tool (1), and tighten the oil pump sprocket bolt (2) in 2 steps:
      CAUTION:

      Refer to Fastener Caution .

    1. Tighten in the first step to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
    2. Tighten in the final step to an additional 60 degrees, using the EN-45059  angle meter.
  8. Install the timing chain lower cover. Refer to Timing Chain Lower Cover Replacement .
