Removal Procedure

    Fig 1: Fuel Injectors, Bolts And Retainers

  1. Remove Fuel Injectors (1) (Qty: 4). Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement

  2. Remove Camshaft Housing (2). Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement

  3. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Housing (1). Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Housing Replacement
  4. Remove Oxidation Catalytic Converter. Refer to Oxidation Catalytic Converter Replacement (LH7)

  5. Remove Power Brake Booster Inlet Hose Connector Fitting (5). Refer to Power Brake Booster Inlet Hose Connector Fitting Replacement

  6. Remove Timing Chain Upper Cover (2). Refer to Timing Chain Upper Cover Replacement

  7. Install Engine Lift Bracket - Right Side (1) @ Cylinder Head
    8. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  8. Install and tighten Engine Lift Bracket Bolt (2) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft)

  9. Install Engine Lift Bracket - Left Side (1) @ Cylinder Head
  10. Install and tighten Engine Lift Bracket Bolt (2) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
  11. Remove Transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)

  12. Remove Crankshaft Position Sensor Reluctor Ring (1). Refer to Crankshaft Position Sensor Reluctor Ring Replacement

  13. Remove Oil Pan (2). Refer to Oil Pan Replacement

  14. Remove Timing Chain Lower Cover (2). Refer to Timing Chain Lower Cover Replacement

  15. Remove Crankshaft Pulley (1). Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement

  16. Install Crankshaft Pulley Bolts (1) (Qty: 4)
  17. Lower the vehicle.

    NOTE:

    If the bores are not aligned, turn the crankshaft at the crankshaft pulley bolts.

  18. Check if the bores (1) are aligned.

  19. Turn the exhaust camshaft at the hexagon so far so that the EN-51143  fixing tool (1) can be installed.
  20. Raise the vehicle.

  21. Remove Crankshaft Pulley Bolts (1) (Qty: 4)

  22. Install EN-51140  Fixing Tool (2)
  23. Install the fixing pin into the engine block bore (1) and tighten the 2 bolts (3).
  24. If the EN-51140  fixing tool can not installed. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Adjustment 
  25. Lower the vehicle.

  26. Tension the timing chain tensioner (1) in arrow direction.
  27. Install EN-50513  Pin (2)

  28. Remove Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe Bolt (2)
  29. Remove Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe (1)

  30. Remove Timing Chain Lower Guide Bolts (2) (Qty: 2)
  31. Remove Timing Chain Lower Guide (1)

  32. Loosen Timing Chain Upper Guide Bolt (1)
  33. Remove Timing Chain Upper Guide Bolt (3)
  34. Move the timing chain upper guide in the direction of arrow.

  36. Remove the upper timing chain upper guide bolt (2).
