Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  2. Remove Camshaft Housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement 
  3. Remove Crankshaft Pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement 
  4. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

    NOTE:

    Check the TDC position of cylinder 1.

  6. Check if the bores (1) are aligned.
  7. Rotate the crankshaft, if the bores (1) are not aligned.

    NOTE:

    Turn the exhaust camshaft at the hexagon until the EN-51143  fixing tool can be installed.

  9. Install the EN-51143  fixing tool (1).
  10. Raise the vehicle.

  12. Install EN-51140  fixing tool (2).
  13. Install the fixing pin into the engine block bore (1) and tighten the 2 bolts (3).
  14. If the fixing pin does not fit into the engine block bore, the camshaft timing must be adjusted. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Adjustment .
