Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  2. Remove Throttle Body Assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement
  3. Remove Camshaft Housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement 
  4. Remove Crankshaft Pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement 
  5. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    NOTE:

    To locate the correct camshaft sprocket bolt (2) check the TDC position.

  7. Check if the bores (1) are aligned.
  8. Raise the vehicle.

  10. Install the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
  11. Rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar.
  12. Lower the vehicle.

  14. Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt (1) from the intake camshaft sprocket (2). Counterhold with a wrench at the camshaft hexagon.
  15. Raise the vehicle.

  17. Rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
  18. Remove the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).

  20. Install EN-51140  fixing tool (2).
  21. Install the fixing pin into the engine block bore (1) and tighten the 2 bolts (3).
  22. Lower the vehicle.

  24. Loosen the 2 camshaft sprocket bolts (2) from the camshaft sprocket (1). Counterhold with a wrench at the camshaft hexagon.

  26. Turn the exhaust camshaft at the hexagon until the EN-51143  fixing tool (1) can be installed.
