Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    NOTE:

    Before installing the camshaft sprocket, check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear.

  1. Check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear:
    • Timing chain guides with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain tensioner and timing chain tensioner shoe with plastic attachment
    • Timing chain and all timing chain sprockets
    • Oil pump sprocket
    • Oil pump drive chain tensioner

  3. Position the camshaft sprocket mark (3) at a 12 o'clock position and install the camshaft sprocket (4) to the camshaft timing chain (1).
  4. Install the camshaft sprocket (3) to intake camshaft (2).
  5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  6. Install the 3 camshaft sprocket bolts (5) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft), counterhold with a wrench at the camshaft hexagon.

  8. Remove the EN-50513  pin (2).

  10. Remove the EN-51143  fixing tool (1).
  11. Raise the vehicle.

  13. Remove the 2 bolts (3).
  14. Remove the EN-51140  fixing tool (2).

  16. Install the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).

    Rotate the crankshaft 720 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).

  17. Remove the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
  18. Check the camshaft timing. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Inspection .
  19. Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
  20. Install the timing chain upper cover. Refer to Timing Chain Upper Cover Replacement
