Fuel Injection Pump

The fuel injection pump (5) is a mechanical high pressure pump. The fuel injection pump is located on the upper right side of the engine. Fuel is pumped to the fuel rail (8) at a specified pressure. Fuel pressure is regulated by two fuel pressure regulators located in the fuel injection pump and the end of the fuel rail, both are controlled by the engine control module (ECM). Excess fuel from the fuel injection pump returns to the fuel tank through the fuel return pipe.
