Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

CAUTION:

Do not disconnect the nitrogen oxide sensor from the nitrogen oxide sensor control module. A separation of the two components may cause a defect on the nitrogen oxide sensor control module. Always replace the nitrogen oxide sensor along with the nitrogen oxide sensor control module as an assembly.

Remove Electrical Connector (1)

Remove Nitrogen Oxides Sensor Nuts (1) (Qty: 2)

NOTE:

Secure the nitrogen oxides sensor control module in a location that prevents unnecessary binding or strain on the cable.

Remove both the nitrogen oxides sensor control module bracket (1) and the nitrogen oxides sensor control module (2) from the front compartment side rail studs (3).

Unclip Wiring Harness Retainers (1) (Qty: 3)

NOTE:

Do not bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position

Remove the nitrogen oxides sensor (1) from the exhaust pipe.

Remove Exhaust Heat Shield Retainers (1) (Qty: 2)
Remove the nitrogen oxides sensor assembly from the vehicle.
