Removal Procedure

Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
Remove Front Wheelhouse Liner-Right Side. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Equinox)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Terrain)
Remove Underbody Front Air Deflector. Refer to Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement (Equinox)Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement (Terrain)

CAUTION:

Do not disconnect the nitrogen oxide sensor from the nitrogen oxide sensor control module. A separation of the two components may cause a defect on the nitrogen oxide sensor control module. Always replace the nitrogen oxide sensor along with the nitrogen oxide sensor control module as an assembly.

Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

Remove the 2 nitrogen oxides sensor control module nuts (1).

NOTE:

Do not bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position

Remove the nitrogen oxides sensor control module (2).
Lower the vehicle.

NOTE:

Unclip Wiring Harness Retainers (1) (Qty: 2)
Remove Turbocharger Heat Shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement (LH7)

NOTE:

Use the special tool: EN-6179 Oxygen Sensor Wrench

Remove Nitrogen Oxides Sensor (2)
Remove the nitrogen oxides sensor assembly from the vehicle.
