Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the nitrogen oxides sensor assembly to the vehicle.

    NOTE:

    Do not bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position

    NOTE:

    Use the special tool: EN-6179  Oxygen Sensor Wrench

  3. Install and tighten Nitrogen Oxides Sensor (2) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
  4. Install Turbocharger Heat Shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement (LH7)
  5. Install Wiring Harness Retainers (1) (Qty: 2)
  6. Raise the vehicle.

    NOTE:

    Do not bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position

  8. Install the nitrogen oxides sensor control module (2).
  9. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  10. Install the 2 nitrogen oxides sensor control module nuts (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  12. Connect the electrical connector. (1)
  13. Install Underbody Front Air Deflector. Refer to Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement (Equinox)Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement (Terrain)
  14. Install Front Wheelhouse Liner-Right Side. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Equinox)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Terrain)
  15. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  16. If replacing, perform the NOx sensor 1 reset. Refer to NOx Sensor 1 Reset 
  17. If replacing, perform the NOx catalyst reductant loading reset. Refer to NOx Catalyst Reductant Loading Reset
