Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the pressure spindle (2) from the EN-50885-2  fixing tool (1).

  2. Install a NEW fuel injection pump seal ring (1) to the fuel injection pump sealing groove (2).

  3. Mark the position of the wedge (3) with a paint mark (2) on the end of the shaft of the fuel injection fuel pump (1).

    NOTE:

    Position the fuel pump shaft in order to align the wedge with the fuel injection pump sprocket groove.

  4. Position the fuel injection pump (2) to the fuel injection pump sprocket and the sprocket groove (1).

    NOTE:

    Use a mirror to see the fuel injection pump sprocket from the transmission side.

  5. Position the fuel injection pump to the fuel injection pump sprocket (2).
    1. Turn the fuel injection pump so that the paint mark (1) matches with the sprocket groove (3).
    2. Press in the fuel injection pump.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

  6. Install and tighten Fuel Injection Pump Bolts (1) (Qty: 2) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

  7. Install Fuel Injection Pump Drive Pulley Nut (1)

  8. Install a 1/2 inch-drive extension (1) to the EN-50885-2  fixing tool (2) to counterhold.
  9. Tighten Fuel Injection Pump Drive Pulley Nut to 64 N.m (47 lb ft)
  10. Remove the 1/2 inch-drive extension (1).
  11. Remove EN-50885-2  fixing tool (2)

  12. Install the NEW fuel injection pump sprocket access hole plug (1) onto the EN-50885-1  installer (2).

    NOTE:

    Ensure that the EN-50885-1  installer on the timing chain lower housing rests against.

  13. Install the fuel injection pump sprocket access hole plug by hitting the handle (1) of the EN-50885-1  installer (2).

  14. Install Range Selector Lever Cable (1) @ Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket

    Push the range selector lever cable into the bracket.

  15. Install Range Selector Lever Cable (1) @ Range Selector Lever Cable Lever

  16. Reposition Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (2)
  17. Install and tighten Transmission Bolt (1) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft)

  18. Connect Charge Air Bypass Regulator Solenoid Valve Inlet Tube (2) @ Exhaust Gas Recirculation Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve (1)

  19. Connect the electrical connector. (1)

  20. Remove the closure plugs from all connections.
  21. Connect Diesel Fuel Separator (3) @ Fuel Injection Pump (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  22. Connect Fuel Feed Pipe (1) @ Fuel Injection Pump (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  23. Install the auxiliary fluid accumulator. Refer to Auxiliary Fluid Accumulator Replacement (Equinox)Auxiliary Fluid Accumulator Replacement (Terrain)
  24. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement
  25. Install the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Bracket Replacement 
  26. Check the fuel system for leaks. Refer to Fuel Leak Diagnosis
  27. Install Intake Manifold Cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
  28. If replacing, perform the high pressure fuel correction reset. Refer to High Pressure Fuel Correction Reset
