Removal Procedure

  1. Remove Intake Manifold Cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
  3. Fig 1: Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube And Retaining Clip

    NOTE:

    Reposition the charge air cooler outlet air tube as necessary.

  4. Remove Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Throttle Body. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement 
  5. Fig 2: Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose, Connector And Retainer Clip

  6. Disconnect Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose Connector (1)
  7. Remove Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (2) @ Retainer Clip (3)
  8. Position aside Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (2)

  10. Disconnect Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Temperature Sensor Electrical Connector (1)

  12. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe Bolts (1, 4) (Qty: 4)
  13. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe (5)
  14. Remove and DISCARD Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Pipe Gasket (2)
  15. Remove and DISCARD Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Outlet Pipe Gasket (3)

  17. Disengage Radiator Surge Tank Overflow Hose Clamp (1)
  18. Disconnect Radiator Surge Tank Overflow Hose (2) @ Thermostat Bypass Pipe (3)
  19. Position aside Radiator Surge Tank Overflow Hose (2)

  21. Remove Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Bracket Bolt (1)

  23. Disconnect the electrical connectors:
    1. Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve (6)
    2. Exhaust Gas Recirculation Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve (5)
    3. Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor (4)
    4. Throttle Body (1)
  24. Unclip Engine Wiring Harness Clip (3)
  25. Position aside Engine Wiring Harness (2)

  27. Remove Heater Inlet Pipe Bracket Bolt (1)
  28. Reposition Heater Inlet and Outlet Pipe Bracket (2)

  30. Remove Intake Manifold Brace Bolts (1) (Qty: 4)
  31. Position aside Intake Manifold Brace (2)

  33. Disconnect Charge Air Bypass Regulator Solenoid Valve Inlet Tube (2) @ Exhaust Gas Recirculation Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve (1)

  35. Remove Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Bolt (2)
  36. Position aside Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor (1)

  38. Remove the turbocharger actuator pipe bracket bolt (1).

  40. Remove the 2 exhaust manifold pipe bolts (3).
  41. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe (1) from the EGR cooler housing.
  42. Remove and DISCARD the gasket. (2)

  44. Loosen Thermostat Bypass Hose Clamp (1)
  45. Remove Thermostat Bypass Hose (3) @ Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Housing (2)

  47. Loosen Quick Connector Clamp (1)
  48. Remove Heater Outlet Hose (2)
  49. Remove the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum control solenoid valve bracket bolt (3).
  50. Position aside Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve Bracket (4)

  52. Remove the 3 EGR cooler housing bolts (2, 4).
  53. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Housing (1)
  54. Remove and DISCARD the gasket. (3)
