Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Dual Battery)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery)
  2. Remove Steering Column Shroud. Refer to Steering Column Shroud Replacement (RPO N37)Steering Column Shroud Replacement (RPO N38)Steering Column Shroud Replacement (RPO N33)
1 Ignition Lock Cylinder

Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the START position.
  2. Insert an allen wrench or other suitable tool into the access hole on the ignition lock cylinder case and press the lock tab down.
  3. Pull the ignition lock cylinder out of the ignition lock cylinder case.
  4. Use a screwdriver to rotate the ignition lock cylinder case gear clockwise to the START position and then release the tool to allow the cylinder to return under spring tension back to the RUN position.
  5. Install the ignition lock cylinder into the ignition lock cylinder case.
NOTE:

The gears between the ignition and start switch and the ignition lock cylinder case MUST be in the correct position. Failure to do so will cause a misalignment of the gears between the switch and the case which may result in a NO START or BATTERY DRAIN condition.
