Circuit/System Description

Seat Adjuster Switches 

The seat switches provide both power and ground to the selected seat motors. Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the seat switches through a 25 A circuit breaker located in the instrument panel fuse block. When the switches are in an inactive state, the switch contacts are closed to the switch ground circuit.

Seat Horizontal Motor 

The folding top control module controlled easy entry seat motor is reversible. For example, when the seat horizontal forward switch is pressed, battery voltage is applied through the seat horizontal motor forward control circuit, an inline 470 Ω resistor, and the signal circuit to the folding top control module. In response to this signal, the folding top control module applies battery voltage through the horizontal motor forward control circuit and ground through the horizontal motor rearward control circuit to the easy entry seat motor. The motor runs to move the entire seat forward until the switch is released. When the seat horizontal rearward switch is pressed, battery voltage is applied through the seat horizontal motor rearward control circuit, a 220 Ω resistor, and the signal circuit to the folding top control module. The folding top control module reverses the polarity applying voltage and ground to the opposite circuits to move the entire seat rearward.

Seat Recline and Vertical Motors 

The seat recline and front and rear vertical motors are reversible. For example, when the seat front vertical switch is pressed to move the front of the seat up, B+ is applied through the switch contacts and the seat vertical motor up control circuit to the motor. With the front vertical motor down switch contacts closed to the switch ground circuit, the motor runs in order to drive the front of the seat up until the switch is released. Moving the front of the seat down works similarly to moving the front of the seat up, except that battery voltage and ground are applied on opposite circuits causing the motor to run in the opposite direction. The seat rear vertical and recline motors are also powered this way.
