Installation Procedure
Loosely install the NEW rear axle bushing bolts and nuts (1) to the rear axle (2), but do not tighten yet.
Install the rear coil spring lower seat insulators (1) to the axle.
- Install the equalizer beam link to the rear axle and tighten loosely.
- WARNING:
Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Warning .
CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
Tighten the NEW axle bracket bolts (1).
Tighten
- Install the NEW bolts (1) and tighten in a first pass to 90 N.m (66 lb ft).
- Tighten the NEW bolts in a final pass to an additional 45 degrees, using the EN-45059 meter.
- WARNING:
Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Warning .
Tighten the NEW axle bushing through bolts and nuts (1).
Tighten
- Tighten the NEW bolts and nuts (1) in a first pass to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).
- Tighten the NEW bolts and nuts in a final pass to an additional 120 degrees, using the EN-45059 meter.
- Remove the hydraulic lift table and the CH-6002-A tool.
Remove the CH-6002-550-1-2 bolts (1) from the rear axle.
Loosely tighten the equalizer beam link bolts (1).
Install the 2 rear springs (1).
Support the rear axle and install the NEW lower shock absorber bolt (2) loosely.
- Repeat the procedure on the other side.
- If equipped, install the headlamp leveling rear suspension height sensor. Refer to Headlamp Leveling Rear Suspension Height Sensor Replacement .
- If equipped, install the headlamp leveling rear suspension height sensor exciter plate. Refer to Headlamp Leveling Rear Suspension Height Sensor Exciter Plate Replacement .
Install both parking brake cables (1) to the rear brake calipers, installing the retainers (2).
Remove the support and install both rear brake calipers (2) to the vehicle.
- Install the upper brake caliper bolt (1) and tighten to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
- Install the lower brake caliper vibration damper and stud assembly (3) and tighten the stud to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
If equipped with manual parking brake. Install the rear parking brake cable bracket bolts (1) to the rear axle and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Install both brake hose bolts (1) attaching the hose to the rear brake caliper bracket and tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
Install the rear wheel speed sensors (1).
- Install the wheel speed sensor bolts (2) and tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear V-rod underbody brace. Refer to Underbody Brace Replacement - Rear V-Rod .
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Tension the parking brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment .
- WARNING:
Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Warning .
Tighten the NEW lower shock absorber bolt (2) with vehicle standing on the ground.
- First Pass: 150 N.m (111 lb ft)
- Final Pass: 65 degrees, using the EN - 45059 meter
- NOTE:
Tighten the bolts with vehicle standing on the ground.
Tighten the equalizer beam link bolts (1) to 160 N.m (118 lb ft).
- Perform the wheel alignment measurement. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
