Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the rear V-rod underbody brace. Refer to Underbody Brace Replacement - Rear V-Rod .
Bolt(1) - Remove[2x]
{ If equipped }Bolt(1) - Remove[4x]
Remove the 2 outer equalizer beam link bolts (1).
- Secure the right equalizer beam link with a heavy mechanical wire.
- If equipped, disconnect the headlamp leveling rear suspension height sensor connector. Headlamp Leveling Rear Suspension Height Sensor Replacement .
Support the rear axle with a tall jack stand near the shock absorber.
- Rear Shock Absorber Bolt(2) - Remove and DISCARD
- Lower the hydraulic jack.
- Repeat the procedure on the other side.
Rear Spring(1) - Remove[2x]
Rear Axle Bracket Bolt(1) - Remove and DISCARD[8x]
- Carefully lower the rear axle as far as necessary.
Bolt(2)@Rear Axle Bracket(3) - Remove and DISCARD
- Nut(1)@Rear Axle Bracket(3) - Remove and DISCARD
- Rear Axle Bracket(3) - Remove
