Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. GM2781539

    Assemble the strut assembly. Install the yoke and steering knuckle assembly to the shock absorber (2).

  2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install a NEW front shock absorber yoke bolt (3) and nut (1) and tighten the nut to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

    Install the strut assembly (1) to the vehicle.

  5. GM2027761

    Install the strut mounting plate (3).

  6. While supporting the strut assembly, install the upper strut mount nut (1), using the CH-49375  wrench and tighten to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
  7. Install the strut mount cap (2).

    Install the NEW front lower control arm outer bolt (2) and nut (1) and tighten a first pass to 115 N.m (85 lb ft).

  9. Tighten the NEW lower control arm outer bolt (2) and nut (1) a final pass to an additional 120 - 135 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.

    Install the outer tie rod end (2) to the steering knuckle.

  11. Install the NEW outer tie rod end nut (1), and tighten a first pass to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
  12. Tighten the NEW outer tie rod nut a final pass to an additional 30 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.

    Use the CH-49376  holding wrench with the EN-956-1  extension (2) to aid in tightening the wheel drive shaft nut.

  14. GM2027914

    Install the NEW wheel drive shaft nut (2) to the wheel drive shaft (1).

    1. Tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to 150 N.m (111 lb ft).
    2. Release the wheel drive shaft nut through 45 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.
    3. Tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to 250 N.m (185 lb ft).

    Install the front stabilizer shaft upper link (2) to the front strut

  16. Install the front stabilizer shaft upper link nut (1) to the front stabilizer shaft upper link (2), and tighten to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).

    Install the front wheel speed sensor (2) to the steering knuckle.

  18. Install the front wheel speed sensor fastener (1), and tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
  19. Clip in all front wheel speed sensor cable retainers to the lower control arm and strut.

    Install the front wheel brake rotor (1) to the hub.

  21. Install the front wheel brake rotor retaining screw (2) to the brake rotor, and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

    Install the front brake caliper and bracket (2) to the hub.

  23. Install the 2 NEW front brake caliper bracket bolts (1) to the brake caliper bracket (2), and tighten a first pass to 150 N.m (111 lb ft).
  24. Tighten the 2 NEW brake caliper bracket bolts (1) a final pass to an additional 45 - 60 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.

    Install the brake hose (1) to the strut.

  26. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  27. Lower and de-support the vehicle.
  28. Install the plenum water deflector. Refer to Plenum Water Deflector Replacement - Center .
