Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the front wheels to the straight forward position and secure the steering wheel from moving.
  2. GM2595021

    Remove the lower steering intermediate shaft bolt (1).

  3. Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  5. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  6. { If equipped } Front Compartment Insulator Replacement - Remove
  7. { If equipped } Engine Shield Replacement - Remove
  8. Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement - Remove

    Front Stabilizer Shaft Link Nut(2) - Remove and DISCARD

  10. Stabilizer Shaft Link(1)@Stabilizer Shaft - Disconnect

    Clip(1) - Remove[4x]

    Clip(1) - Remove[4x]

    Front Transmission Mount Through Bolt(1) - Remove

  14. Rear Transmission Mount Bracket Bolt(2) - Remove
  15. Support the drivetrain and front suspension frame with a suitable hydraulic jack.

    Remove 2 rear suspension frame bolts (2).

  17. Remove rear frame reinforcements (1).
  18. Carefully lower the front suspension frame assembly enough to gain access to the stabilizer shaft insulator bolts. Bent engine side cover aside.

    Remove and DISCARD the 4 front stabilizer shaft insulator clamp bolts (1).

    NOTE:

    The stabilizer shaft insulator is serviced with the stabilizer shaft. It is NOT serviced separately.

  20. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
