If the mechanical friction in the steering system is too high, the steering gear must be checked and all rubber boots and seals inspected. Check for signs of water intrusion into the steering gear. If water has gotten inside, high friction is likely to occur again.
DTC C055C 64 may set if while driving the steering gear receives a jarring input from hitting a curb or pot hole. After further driving, including full lock to lock steering maneuvers, the DTC may go to history. If the code goes to history after this scenario, it is considered normal.
