Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE:

    You must perform the Circuit/System Verification first.

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector from the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
  2. Test for less than 10 Ω between the vehicle harness connector ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If 10 Ω or greater 

      Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end.

    • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
    • If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω 
  3. Ignition ON.
  4. Test for 11 - 13 V at the vehicle harness connector between signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    • If not between 11 - 13 V 
    1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module.
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance.
    3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If between 11 - 13 V 
  5. Ignition On/Vehicle in Service Mode.
  6. Verify the scan tool Driver Shift Control Mode Switch parameter @ the K9 Body Control Module displays Inactive.
    • If Inactive is not displayed 
    1. Ignition/Vehicle OFF
    2. Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module
    3. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and ground
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance, replace the K9 Body Control Module
    • Go to next step: If inactive is displayed 
  7. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between signal circuit terminal 3 and ground circuit terminal 2.
  8. Verify the scan tool Driver Shift Control Mode Switch parameter at the K9 Body Control Module displays Invalid.
    • If Invalid is not displayed 
    1. Ignition/Vehicle Off, remove the jumper wire,
    2. Disconnect the harness connector X2 at the K9 Body Control Module
    3. Ignition On, Vehicle in Service Mode.
    4. Test for less than 1 V between signal circuit terminal 11 at the control module harness and ground
      • If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit
      • Go to next step: If less than 1 V
    5. Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K9 Body Control Module
    • Go to next step: If Invalid is displayed 
  9. Replace the S3 Transmission Shift Lever
