Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: S3 Transmission Shift Lever
  3. Test for 5, 900 to 6, 400 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 3 & Ground terminal
    • If not between 5, 900 and 6, 400 ohms 

      Replace the component: S3 Transmission Shift Lever

    • Go to next step: If between 5, 900 and 6, 400 ohms 
  4. Press and hold the switch: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Downshift
  5. Test for 1, 900 to 2, 100 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 3 & Ground terminal
    • If not between 1, 900 and 2, 100 ohms 

      Replace the component: S3 Transmission Shift Lever

    • Go to next step: If between 1, 900 and 2, 100 ohms 
  6. Press and hold the switch: S2 Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Upshift
  7. Test for 600 to 660 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 3 & Ground terminal
    • If not between 600 and 660 ohms 

      Replace the component: S3 Transmission Shift Lever

    • Go to next step: If between 600 and 660 ohms 
  8. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Each terminal of the component & The component's housing
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component: S3 Transmission Shift Lever

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  9. All OK.
