Removal Procedure

Refer to Brake Dust Warning .

CAUTION:

Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

NOTE:

Always replace brake rotors in axle sets. After brake rotor replacement it is essential to replace the brake pads in axle sets.

  1. If equipped with an electric parking brake, release the parking brake cable. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .
  2. GM2028360

    Remove the brake caliper and the caliper mounting bracket as an assembly from the steering knuckle. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .

  3. Remove the rear brake rotor bolt (2).
  4. Remove rear brake rotor (1) from the wheel hub.
