Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  1. Install a NEW brake bleeder valve and brake bleeder valve cap to the brake caliper.
  2. GM2888761

    Lubricate the new piston seal (1) with brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Refer to for the recommended brake fluid.

  3. Install the lubricated piston seal (1) to the caliper bore.
  4. Apply a thin coat of brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container to the brake caliper piston. Refer to for the recommended brake fluid.

    Install a NEW piston dust boot (1) to the bottom half of the brake caliper piston (2). Make sure the dust boot sealing lip (3) is slightly above the bottom of the brake caliper piston (2).

    Install the dust boot sealing lip (1) into the groove of the brake caliper housing (2). Make sure the sealing lip (1) is entirely fitted into the groove. Do note slide the caliper piston into the caliper bore yet.

    Slightly pull the brake piston (3) outwards to ensure a proper installation of the dust boot (2). Make sure that the brake piston does not slide out of the dust boot and / or the dust boot slides out of the caliper housing (1). Check if the dust boot sealing lip is still entirely fitted into the groove in the caliper housing.

    Carefully push the brake piston (3) into the caliper housing (1). Ensure that the piston slides along the piston seal (2).

    Make sure that the sealing lip (1) slides into the brake piston groove (2).

    Fully compress the brake piston (1) into the brake caliper bore.

  11. Perform a final visual inspection for correct seat of the brake piston dust boot.
  12. Install the front brake caliper to the vehicle. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .
