Installation Procedure

  1. GM2968109

    Move and hold the timing chain guide against the timing chain.

  2. Timing Chain Tensioner(1) - Install
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Timing Chain Tensioner Bolt(2) - Install and tighten 10 N.m (89 lb in)[2x]
  4. GM2968108

    Push the timing chain guide - left side (2) in the direction of the arrow.

  5. Remove the 2 mm drill bit or equivalent (3) from the tensioner (1).
    6. NOTE:

    The timing components will move during the removal/installation process.

  6. Check the camshaft timing. Camshaft Timing Chain Inspection 
  7. Install the upper engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement - Upper .
